Do you remember your first bike? I remember mine, it was blue with white tires and a flower covered banana seat. It was not only my freedom to get around, but also my freedom to explore. With this bike I started a love affair that has lasted to this day.
Imagine never having that first bike. For many kids, this is a reality. Help us put a first bike into the hands of 100+ elementary aged children by donating to our Bikes for Tykes fundraiser.
Bingham Cyclery, MTB Enthusiasts of Utah and WomenMTB have come together to raise money for The Bicycle Collective. Last year we were able to raise over $7000 in cash and in-kind donations resulting in over 90 bike packages that included water bottles, helmets, and locks given to kids in need. Because of our huge success we have decided to hold 2 giveaway's this year so we can help out twice as many kids!
“I want a bike to take a ride with my dad and my brother. I [would] like to ride a bicycle in a park, thats what I [would] like to do in the summer of the following year.
I hope that is possible, thank you!”
Pictured is Gaspar and his brother who both received new bikes at last years event.
MAKE A CHILD HAPPY THIS SEASON
If you want to help, any amount from $5 to $500, makes a difference. Donate today by clicking on the DONATE button. You can also help by volunteering for the giveaway events on Nov. 11th in Ogden and Dec. 2nd in Salt Lake, to do so, fill out this form and someone will be in touch.
Funds above and beyond what is needed for the Bikes for Tykes giveaway will be used to support a new Bicycle Collective youth program called “Bike School.” From start to finish, this program aims to place young people from diverse backgrounds in real bike shop jobs along the Wasatch Front, teach life long job skills and continue to provide a way for youth to earn a bike through volunteerism.
